Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before engaging with Mindful Talk Therapy Scotland. By booking a consultation or therapy session, you agree to these terms.
1. About Us
Mindful Talk Therapy Scotland is a private counselling and psychotherapy practice. Our therapists are fully qualified and accredited members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

2. Services
We provide private online counselling, psychotherapy, CBT, trauma therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and life coaching via secure video call (Zoom) and telephone. All sessions are delivered online โ we do not currently offer in-person appointments.
We work with adults and young people aged 13 and over. Clients under 18 must have written parental or guardian consent prior to commencing therapy.
3. Appointments & Scheduling
- Sessions are 50 minutes (therapy) or 60 minutes (life coaching) unless otherwise agreed
- A free 15โ20 minute initial consultation is offered before committing to ongoing sessions
- Appointments are confirmed via email or WhatsApp
- Please join your session on time โ late arrivals will not extend the session end time
- You are responsible for ensuring a private, confidential space for your sessions
4. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
- 48 hours' notice: cancellations with more than 48 hours' notice โ no charge
- Less than 48 hours: 50% of the session fee may be charged
- No-show / less than 24 hours: full session fee may be charged
- We understand emergencies happen โ please contact us as soon as possible and we will always try to be reasonable
- We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule with appropriate notice. Where we cancel, no fee will be charged
5. Fees & Payment
- Fees are agreed at the point of booking and confirmed in writing before the first paid session
- Payment is due prior to or at the time of the session unless otherwise agreed
- We accept bank transfer, credit/debit card, and cash
- We do not currently offer insurance billing โ sessions are self-funded
- Fees are reviewed periodically; you will be given at least 4 weeks' notice of any change
6. Confidentiality
Everything discussed in therapy is treated as strictly confidential. Exceptions apply only in limited circumstances as outlined in our Privacy Policy โ primarily where there is serious risk to life, a safeguarding concern, or a legal requirement to disclose.
All session notes are stored securely and handled in accordance with UK GDPR. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
7. Scope of Practice & Limitations
- Therapy and counselling are not a substitute for emergency medical or psychiatric care
- If you are in crisis or immediate danger, please call 999, go to your nearest A&E, or contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7)
- We do not prescribe medication and are not a medical service
- We may refer you to other services (e.g. GP, psychiatry, crisis team) if we believe this is in your best interest
- We reserve the right to decline or end a therapeutic relationship if we determine that our service is not appropriate for your needs โ we will always signpost you to more suitable support
8. Online Session Requirements
For online sessions via Zoom or telephone:
- You are responsible for having a suitable device, stable internet connection, and a private space
- Sessions should not be recorded by either party without prior written consent
- If your connection fails, we will attempt to reconnect or switch to telephone โ time lost to technical issues will not normally be extended
9. Under-18 Clients
For clients aged 13โ17:
- Written parental or guardian consent is required before therapy begins
- The young person's confidentiality is respected in line with Gillick competence principles
- Parents/guardians will not be given detailed session content without the young person's agreement, except where safeguarding requires it

11. Limitation of Liability
Mindful Talk Therapy Scotland provides therapy services in good faith using evidence-based methods. Therapy outcomes cannot be guaranteed โ progress depends on many factors including individual engagement. We are not liable for any loss, harm, or damages arising from the use of our services beyond the direct fees paid for sessions.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland and the United Kingdom. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the current Terms.
